Hello!
I am Jason Clark, your DJ.
Here, I'll chat a little about who I am, and the background of Dance Sounds Disco.
I am 38 years old, a child of the 70s. My first memory of music was Muds "TigerFeet", probably due to owning some Tiger Styled slippers.. The tune still brings a smile to my face today!
Moving onto the 80's, I was a teenager - torn Between Blondie and Madonna, I settled with both (grin)
In the mid 90's I was involved with a small nightclub in Sudbury, Suffolk - and then realised that I wanted to become a DJ!
Marriage and Children put those plans on hold for a few years.
I now DJ mainly weddings, but also enjoy family parties with Ruby Wedding Anniversaries, Engagements and children's parties to keep me on my toes!
My car radio has a mix of Kiss 100, Absolute (Virgin) and Radio 1 depending what is playing, and sitting in a typical M25 Jam is a great way to explore new (or not so new) music. When it comes to music, I'm happy listening to oldies, and also some of the latest funky house. Professionally, whatever produces a full dancefoor is what I prefer, so Cheese, Ska, Rock, Rock & Roll, 60's, Action Songs, Dance Music, and even the lastest Lady Gaga track!
I also enjoy live music and try to get out to see local bands. My favorite localish band is "Scam69", and they perform NewWave/Punk songs. Sadly they don't often play in my area! So, if you're planning a party with some live music - I'd love to be involved!
My music collection spans the 1950's, right up to the current charts. My children know that when we go shopping, its normally a long boring walk around a music shop (or DJ store!). As a filler, I have the Now CD's from Now23 to Now76. Now23 was released in 1992!
I subscribe to a DJ-Only CD service, this means I get many of the latest tracks each month.
I'm passionate to promote DJing as a serious profession, whilst there are some DJ's who treat it as a bit of fun, there are many of us who see it as a business, with a good reputation and absolute reliability as essential to long term success.
I'm an active member in the online DJ forums, where discussions range from new music, to such gripping stuff as the best lighting clamps! However, this allows me to be privileged to have a number of contacts, locally and nationwide, where we share expertise and also assist new DJ's.
I try to use technology to provide the best service for my clients. This means we have a new Event Management System that provides some very helpful online tools for our clients and their guests. We are happy to use email as a primary communications medium, but are always happy to talk on the phone.
However, some of our clients prefer telephone, or do not have an email address, in this case, we speak regularly.
I've recently invested heavily in lighting, when you book me, you'll be getting a modern lightshow, suitable for your party. This may mean "full on" for big parties where there will be a large dancefloor, or something a bit more restrained for smaller parties.
I believe first impressions count, and so a smart set-up is important to impress your guests (secondary to a great night!). This means tidy and safe set-up, a sound system that does not look like an AC-DC concert, and modern lighting to match the type of party.
I hope this little page is interesting!
Best wishes,
Jason
