Frequently Asked Questions
Here, we attempt to answer some common questions. If you'd like to learn more about us and the service we can offer, please contact us for an informal chat.
As with many service providers, it is extremely difficult to have a fixed price. Running a mobile disco is expensive, and ensuring the equipment is safe and reliable is a hidden overhead that many low-cost DJ's will ignore.
Many factors come into play which will effect price:
- Location of venue, and difficulty with Parking, loading/unloading equipment (Stairs).
- Duration of Disco and set-up/pack-up times.
- Type of event. We do offer good terms for registered charities or fund raising nights. A 2 hour childrens disco on a Sunday afternoon will be cheaper than a wedding.
We believe our prices are competitive, so please contact us for an accurate quotation tailored precisely for your needs.
Yes! Whilst we have the mainly traditional 60's, 80's and chart selection, we also have many favorite tracks that you've forgotten about!
We enjoy most types of music, even before starting out as a DJ, the collection covered many genres.
We'll try! We have thousands of tracks, but its always best to contact us before the event to ensure we have it on the night.

No, many venues do not allow smoke machines as they can set-off smoke alarms.
Strobe lighting can cause epileptic seizures, and many people ask for them not to be used for this reason.
These are two separate certificates. It is important to remember that many venues will require both before allowing a Disco to set-up.
Even if you do not book with us, please ensure your chosen DJ has these certificates to avoid your disappointment on the day.
PAT (Portable Appliance Testing)
This is not a legal requirement, but does ensure the equipment is regulary tested for electrical safety. The test will check earth connections, and all mains cables to ensure they are safe to use.
Many venues require proof of PAT testing before allowing a Disco/Band to set-up.
Dance Sounds Disco will provide this information with your booking confirmation and will also have copies availible for inspection on the day.
PLI (Public Liability Insurance)
This insurance covers the DJ in the event of any serious problems. These could include:
Electrocution, Fire, Damage to Property, Personal injury etc. Whilst we all hope these situations do not occur, a responsible DJ will insure against these risks.
Many venues will require this insurance and will turn away Discos that are uninsured.
